What's new in HeyBirdy: release notes
Quick answer
This page lists what HeyBirdy added each month, newest first, with a link to the help article for each feature. New features arrive in your existing account at no extra cost, with nothing to install.
You log in on Monday morning and something on the screen is new. A colour on a label, a new column, a switch you do not remember. This page is where you find out what it is and why it is there.
Every month, new features arrive in your HeyBirdy account without anything to install. This page tracks them, newest first.
- Each month lists what shipped and what it changes for you.
- Each entry links to the help article for that feature.
- For the full list of capabilities and the month each became available, see the feature reference.
September 2026
Colours for labels. When you create or edit a label, you can now pick a Label color. The colour follows the label onto contacts, the chat list and campaigns, so a VIP or Catering customer stands out at a glance. See Labels.
Sentiment on a 1 to 5 scale. Chat Analysis, chat summaries and the Excel reports now show customer sentiment on the same 1 to 5 scale, so the numbers read the same wherever you see them. See Chat Analysis.
Contact remarks in the chat. The remark you keep on a contact now shows under the chat header, so the agent replying sees "prefers delivery after 6pm" before they type. Long remarks fold away behind Show more. See Contact details.
Inactivity follow-up on or off. You can now choose whether HeyBirdy checks in when a customer goes quiet mid-conversation. Switch Inactivity Follow-Up on or off in Automated Messages.
August 2026
Your chat list remembers your filters. The filters you set in Chats now stay in place for you the next time you open it, and the label filter shows when it is loading. Each agent keeps their own view. See Chat lobby.
Asking customers for their number. When HeyBirdy needs a customer's phone number before it can show their rewards or take an order, it now sends a message with WhatsApp's own Share Contact Info button. You can edit the wording under Contact Info Request in Automated Messages.
A reply for members with no stamps yet. Rewards accounts have a new No Points / Stamps Yet message for customers who check a balance that is still zero, instead of an empty result. Edit it in Automated Messages.
July 2026
Filters for conversation search. Searching what was said in your chats now takes filters for date, assigned agent, contact and who sent the message, and results show the matching words highlighted. See Chat lobby.
See which ad brought the customer. A chat that starts from a click-to-WhatsApp ad or post is now marked Message via Ad or Message via Post. Select View Info to see the ad's headline, text and media. See Manage a chat.
Customers can ask for a person. Customers can now choose to speak to someone on your team, and your AI assistant offers this when a message is too unclear to answer. The chat reaches an agent as a chat alert.
New team member sign-in. Team members now join through an invitation and can sign in with a password, Google or Facebook. See Manage team members.
Several workspaces under one login. If you work for more than one business or outlet, you can belong to several workspaces and switch between them from the workspace name at the top of the sidebar. Each workspace keeps its own chats, team and automated messages. See Switch between workspaces.
Edit your automated messages and their buttons. The Automated Messages editor now covers the buttons on each message, with a live WhatsApp preview. See Automated Messages.
June 2026
Import progress you can see. A contact import now shows its progress on the All Contacts page, along with any rows that could not be imported and why. See Import contacts.
Shared contacts in the chat. When a customer shares a contact card, it now appears in the chat with the name and number.
May 2026
WhatsApp campaigns. Send an approved template to a list of contacts, now or at a scheduled time, and pick your audience with labels. See Send a bulk WhatsApp campaign.
Sent, delivered and read for every recipient. Each campaign keeps a recipient log showing whether each message was sent, delivered and read. See Send a bulk WhatsApp campaign.
A scorecard you can share. Your weekly scorecard now has a shareable version for an owner or franchisor who does not use HeyBirdy. See Weekly scorecard.
April 2026
Your AI assistant reads images. Photos, product pictures and screenshots that customers send now inform your assistant's reply.
Set your assistant's tone. Give your AI assistant a tone and written instructions that apply to every reply. See AI Assistant Settings.
Template performance. The Templates page now shows how each template performs, so you can compare them and retire the weaker ones. See Manage WhatsApp message templates.
A weekly scorecard by email. Every week HeyBirdy emails hours saved, the share of chats your AI handled, customers helped after hours, average reply time and customer rating. See Weekly scorecard.
Browser notifications. Get a browser notification when a chat needs a person, so nobody has to watch the inbox. See Notification settings.
Bulk actions and clickable links. Act on several chats at once from the chat list, and open links customers send with one click. See Chat management.
March 2026
Chat Analysis. HeyBirdy now records the sentiment and the reason for contact of every finished conversation, so one-off complaints become a pattern you can see. See Chat Analysis.
Contact labels. Tag contacts with your own labels and use them to choose who receives a campaign. See Labels.
Message templates in HeyBirdy. See your WhatsApp templates and their approval status without opening Meta Business Manager. See Manage WhatsApp message templates.
February 2026
Smart Compose. Rewrite your draft reply in a different tone before you send it, and keep the final say on the wording. See Reply faster with Smart Compose.
When your chats arrive. The dashboard now shows message volume by hour and by day, so you can match staff to your busiest times. See Dashboard.
